Flat Stanley In The NetherlandsApril 26th - May 1st, 2004 So we are home again after a nice week in The Netherlands together with Flat Stanley. We spent the first days in Amsterdam which is the biggest city in The Netherlands. Amsterdam is known for the many miles of channels. There are more then 1200 small bridges in Amsterdam crossing the channels. Copenhagen and Amsterdam have one thing in common. In both cities there are many bicycles in the streets. Amsterdam also has many trams. There are very few tall buildings. Normally houses have only 4 floors. We learned something new. The Netherlands and Holland are not the same. Holland is a region in the Netherlands just like Illinois is a state in The United States of America. On Wednesday the 28th of April we went for a ride in the car. First we visited a park called Keukenhof which is a beautiful place with millions of flowers. The Netherlands are very well known for their tulips. After Keukenhof we continued west to the beach. The water was still very cold. Friday the 30th we went to a small town in the south of the Netherlands called Valkenswaard to meet with a friend that Kenneth knows though the Internet. Both when we drove to The Netherlands and back again we passed through Germany. So Flat Stanley has also been in Germany.
