how to stream live-video, what parameters to setup

Question

i want to use motion as a webserver to stream live video from my web camera to my LAN, i don't know what paramters to setup, although having read manualguide, still confused, does anyone succeed in straming live video ,tell me how to do

ffmpeg version:	0.4.8
Libraries:	ffmpeg, mysql, postgresql
Server OS:	redhat9,kernel 2.4.18
