Motion - Support Question 2007x 03x 20x 110712

Limit to 1 Frame per 5 seconds

Question

I have a question concerning webcam support. I have a axis webcam here at my office and motion installed on our webserver. First of all: Everything is fine.

I'm not sure how motion works but in my opion motions makes minimum every second a connection to the axis cam over the internet. If the image has 10kb, the transfer is 10kb every seccond. So I get daily traffic for 843MB (without the viewers). For Our requirement it is too much. If I can decrease to 1 frame per 5 seconds I calculate about 168MB. That will be OK. How can I make this with motion.conf?

Greets from Germany, Lars

Environment

Motion version: 3.2.6
ffmpeg version:
Libraries: nothing
Server OS: SuSE Linux

Answer

Yes , we introduced some time ago ( 3.2.7 i think ) the option http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/ConfigOptionMinimumFrameTime .

Look to http://www.lavrsen.dk/twiki/bin/view/Motion/UpgradingFromOlderVersion , so you can upgrade from older version of motion.
