Web cam specifics info.

Question

Was wondering if there is or some one could compile a specific Help file for webcam or ip based video. So many cams are now ip based and use various streaming types. IE. does it have to be mjpeg? Can it use h264 or other compression streams? How? What cams will work and the urls? Sample config files. What early versions of motion will work. I find the earlier ones use less cpu but work fine. dhorner@usaPLEASENOSPAM.net willing to do research and testing as well as write wiki. Can i get version info by a web command? Mine is 5 or more years old. Works great tho. vcsn.org/8vids.htm cams online at my house for 10 years plus. but want to go ipcam as bttv cards are slow and lo res.
