Corrupted video capture on bt878

Question

I'm trying to get motion working with one capture card-connected camera. This setup works in vlc -- vlc v4l:/dev/video0:channel=1 gives a good picture.

However, motion's results can be seen in the attached pictures. The very top of the picture is okay, but below that is just a green bar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer

As if by magic, when I restarted the machine this morning, everything worked fine without any configuration changes. I guess it just needed a reboot.
