Motion - Support Question 2014x 07x 18x 190312

Limit on # of IP cameras being monitored?

Question

Is there a limit on the number of IP cameras that can be monitored with Motion 3.2.12 (e.g. Foscam FI890W)? When I get above 5 cameras there are some dropouts [Video signal lost - Adding grey image].

Running on Debian 3.2.60-1+deb7u1 x86_64, Intel i3-2105, 8GB RAM.

Trying to figure out if this might be a hardware issue, or if there's a practical limit on the motion software.

Environment

Motion version: 3.2.12
ffmpeg version: ffmpeg LIBAVCODEC_BUILD 3482368 LIBAVFORMAT_BUILD 3478785
Libraries: ffmpeg, mysql, postgresql
Server OS: Debian 7

Answer

There should not be any limit. Only resources of the hardware are the limits
